When Natalie turned 6 Part One

After seeing everyone's before and after pictures, I wanted to share the pictures from when I did Natalie's bedroom when she turned 6.  Before this she had the Laura Ashley "Hey Diddle Diddle" Theme and everything was blue and yellow.  Then I added a quilt for her big girl bed and eventually I painted her room a very pale purple that was almost white.  Her grandparents bought her the quilt and sham after I asked them to.  I found purple valances with fairy princess dress, crowns and tiaras on it.  Then I put flower fairies everywhere.  I still have a mini mirror with a flower fairy, from my aunt in Sweden and have loved the flower fairies from when I was very young.  My mom teased me that this was my dream room, and she is right. :)

Put these Wallie Fairies all over her room.  I put the yellow one flying down to touch her pillow.

 I wish there was this website when I was doing research for her room.  At the time there wasn't very much stuff out.  I had be creative and search everywhere online and in stores.  It's funny cause a few years, after doing her room, Halmark came out with the Flower Fairy Ornaments and I could find the stuff everywhere.  I even had a switch plate with fairies.  Hers was the lavender fairy and mine was a pink fairy (I still have mine).

For Pink Saturday a New Print for My Room

Happy Mother's Day!  I have another funny Mother's Day post for tomorrow that I hope you check out too.


I created a new print with picnik.com  for Pink Saturday. I used an image that I got from the Vintage Graphic Fairy.  I'm going to print this on glossy or matte paper and put it in my bedroom.  It will go perfect with my new pink walls.

Show and Tell Friday's at Romantic Home

While doing my usual blog hopping I found the site Romantic Homes.  On Friday's Romantic Homes does a Show and Tell Blog Party.  The rules are that it has to be from your home or garden.  It can be from other homes too, or items you want.  I'm going to share the things on my wish list for my bedroom redo.  I'll have my  "office" in one wall, by the window.

My Bedroom Dream List

Right now I have the floors done and the walls painted.  I also have my Vintage Barbie Calendar on the wall.  Above the Calendar is my clip board that I created in this post.

Right now I have a very small computer desk with no room to spread out.  I want to put this to the right of my desk.  To the left of my desk I have a small white shelf with my papers, files and other office stuff.  I'm going to create some type of bulletin board for over the shelf. That is another huge project that will be coming in the  future

 Now I want to buy an Aqua Coverlet and 18 inch White Eyelet Dust Rufflel because my bed is on raisers to create more storage.  I also want  to get the Target Mon Ami Sheet Set.  On the window I'm getting the Mon Ami panels which come in 84 x 100 (50 inche for each panel).  My window faces the east and these curtains have a black lining so it will be good when the sun comes up on a day I want to sleep in.  The lining also keeps the room cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  We often get over 100 degrees in the summer so the lining will be a blessing.

I'm going to get a mini quilt or put a poster over my bed.  I'm in Southern California and we don't want heavy things above us.  The Shabby Chic mini quilt, also from Target, will be perfect.

The mini quilt will coordinate with the Aqua Coverlet Set.

I have other plans for the room as well.  I'll share those when I get more done.  I'm really excited because I'm making my space my own.  I have redone my daughter's room several times but not my own.  Right now my quilt is over 15 years old and now it's starting to fall apart.  I'm heartbroken because I bought it from the Amish country in Iowa and it is hand sewn and hand quilted.  Anyways, it's time for something new.  The coverlet will be good for the summer and maybe by next fall I'll have something new for cooler weather.

My Bedroom

My bedroom and Kitchen are coming along real well.  The kitchen is done and my bedroom is almost done.  Right now I'm mostly working on organizing the things I want in there.  In one corner I'm going to have my office with 2 tables side by side.  One Table will be for the computer with a keyboard and the second table will be for crafts or to spread stuff out.

I will have 2 tables side by side.

My lamp is old and needs a lampshade so I'm buying new table lamps that I want.  This will look perfect on my nighstand and match my pale pink walls and my amish quilt.  I will be doing a product review of my table lamp in the near future.

Once I have my extra wall shelves I'm going to display my Barbie Collection (these are addition to the ones I sell.  Speaking of selling, I finally sold one of my Parisienne Barbies.  She is a beauty!  I still have one left (see index for Barbies on sale).
