Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Sorry about being gone so long.  To tell the truth, besides being busy, I was unproductive and not inspired to write.  During this time though, I celebrated my daughter's 14th birthday and last week a family miracle happen.  My husband, Kurt and I decided to recommit to each other after being estranged for 10 years.  I never thought this would happen since I had started the estrangement.  One big motivator was the issues we were having with our daughter but we also realized that we'd miss each other when we separated.  We were estranged in the same house.  Separate rooms, separate beds, etc....   Despite this we spent all holidays together with each other's families and would drive to the hospital together when our daughter had been in there.  She has been dealing with depression and has been defiant and anyone who has teens knows how this can be.  What's ironic is that now she is upset because we are on the same side and she can't pit us against each other easily.  He and I have different parenting styles which is difficult under any circumstances but if we're not working together it's a disaster.  Now we are trying to get our daughter back on track and help her deal with stress in a healthy way.


This will be the best Holiday season that we have had in a long, long time.  I don't even care what gifts I get because I got my family again and that is the best gift ever.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Today we are going to drive through the woods of the Santa Monica Mountains on Topanga and then next to the Ocean to my Dad's house in Santa Monica. I have to drive through the woods to get to my Mom's house in Ojai, California too. When ever I'm driving Natalie there I think of the old folk song.


Over the mountains and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go....


The road to the ocean is really windy but the view at the end is worth it. It only takes about 30 minutes.  Then we have to drive about 15 minutes along the ocean to Grandpa's house.

This faces the north and I live west of here at the bottom of the hills around the San Fernando Valley.

Monday Mosaic- Thanksgiving- November 6, 2010

New Header for the Month of November

I just created a new Header for the month of November. Ever since I found out about the program at Picnik, I've been having a blast creating collages, mosaics and headers. I found the pumpkin image from Karen, the Graphic Fairy and the other images on Photobucket. I love to find fun images, don't you?  Another creative source is Blingee.  It's so fun to Blingee a photo.  Here is an example of what you can do at Blingee.

This was my store's image for October.

Normally you would have Blingee written in the lower right corner, but I've paid a small amount of money to have the logo removed.

I learned how to combine 2 pictures (see 1st box) and to put the blog name in the header.  I'm constantly learning something new. :)

First I cropped this photo.  Then I added the Harvest Woman that I got from Karen at Graphic Fairy.

Then using the program at picnik.com I layered the two images.

I also got the butterfly, in the last box from Karen @ Vintage Fairy too.

I've already created my Header for December because that is such a busy time for everyone.  I play Mrs. Claus all month selling Barbies on e-Bay so that makes me extra busy, but not as busy as moms who work full time and raise their kids.
