You'll Never Walk Through a Storm Alone

Saturday AM we had a short and fast storm with rain, thunder and hail. It came left quicker than it came. One of Natalie's friends, said on Facebook, that they were afraid and Natalie and her friend walked over to be with the scared friend. That is what friends do, be their for their friends when the friend feels alone. Even though I already talked about 9/11 I wanted to share

Lending Friends Money

"If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it."- anonymous

When I read this tonight I started to laugh.  Has this ever happen to you?  Have you lent money and it ruined your friendship?

When I was 21 I lent one of my best friends $200 because she and her husband needed to repair their car.  Well they repaired their car and drove to New York and I never saw her again.  I talked to her once in Rochester but I never heard from her again.  When ever I hear about Rochester, NY.  I think of my friend Jenny and wonder how she is doing.  What I should be doing is forgetting we were ever friends because she never paid me back and blew me off.  We had been friends since I was in 11th and she was in 12th.  We met in choir and were inseparable till she moved away with her husband.  We went to Santa Monica High's football games.  Share my first officially legal drink when I turned 21.  I even stood up with her at her wedding.  I even named my first car a red 1975 Mustang II (the lousy mustang for you car buffs) after Jenny because her last name was Cherry.   What a fanciful person I was.

This looked a lot like my old mustang.

It was that same fanciful person that believed in her friend even though she knew that her friend was a "bad" girl.  I knew she was a "bad" girl which made her more fun.  I was the goody two shoes to her badness.  What a pair!  I was 21 when she moved away and  my faith in humanity was tarnished.  I was raised to be very practical but I was naive.  I still am at times.  I don't see myself as naive, I see myself as someone that still has faith and thinks the best, till I'm shown the worst.  Now I don't loan anyone more than $40 because it won't devastate me to loose it forever.  The reality is we shouldn't give more than we can afford to loose.

At this time of year we are suppose to be more generous and I still try to do that.  I often wish I had more to give.  I know that if I was able to afford it I'd have tons of animals and live in the country so they would have a place to run around.

Have you given money and then ended up loosing your friend?  Are you still generous but more cautious or did you turn into Scrooge?

Why do reunions cause so many emotions?

Why do reunions cause so many emotions?  I'm all excited and nervous about attending.  Then I'm feeling insecure because I weigh too much and other stupid things.  Then when I'm there I'm in a daze because there is so much going on.  When I went to mine a few weeks ago, I found out that one of our classmates had died in a train crash.  I knew about the crash, because it happened nearby, but didn't learn till 8 years later that one of my fellow singers had died.  In the early 90's another fellow singer had killed himself because he had AIDS.  It wasn't easy to be gay at that time.  I wish I had pictures of them from high school.

Friends from my Choirs at Santa Monica High.  I think everyone looks great for 47 and 48. :)
Tonight I was lying on my couch snoozing because my daughter and her friend were using the computer in my room.  I was feeling the warm breeze and petting my cat and then dozed off.  Later on I hear loud singing and think, what the heck is that?

Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers
Well I sat up and looked at the TV and realized it was the show GLEE.
I have been wanting to watch the show but hadn't.  I didn't get to see the whole show but I liked what I saw.  During the show, one of the young men were singing,  I started to think of my friends who are no longer with us.  I was feeling so sad.  I remember feeling proud because they were my friends and they sang like angels.
Now I feel a bit melancholy but I'm also at peace.  This blog is dedicated to my friend's Scott (Lad) and David.

May the archangels continue to sing with you in heaven.

Pie Jesu, Pie Jesu,

Pie Jesu, Pie Jesu,

Qui tollis peccata mundi;

Dona eis requiem,

Dona eis requiem

I sang Pie Jesu in my head while I looked for images of Angels.

What a Weekend

Last night I went to my 30th High School Reunion.  I'm going to wait till I have photographs to talk more about the reunion.  I'll just say that I had a great time and I'm glad I went.  One friend was happy that we all had our teeth and another shared the best part of being a bit plump is that we have natural botox.  I laughed so hard both time.

Our Mascot

My daugther was at her cousin's for a few days and then came home last night.  Today she left with her dad, her best friend and her bff's dad for a 9 day trip.  First they are going to Lake Tahoe, CA and camp for 5 days.  Then they are going north of San Francisco to visit her bff's aunt.  They will go into San Francisco and see everything.  I wanted to take Natalie on her first trip to San Francisco, but I'm glad that she has the opportunity to go this time.  I was 23 before I went there the first time.  San Francisco is at least 6 hours from Los Angeles, so it's a long long drive.  My daughter and I will miss each other terribly but it's important for her to have special time with her dad.  Their relationship has been strained this past year and I'm hoping this trip helps them heal.

Take a Nap! Change Your Life.

After they left, I went back to sleep.  I didn't wake up again till 4pm.  I got to bed at 1:30am last night, which is early for me.  I took my meds and said good bye to Natalie and her Dad this morning.  Then I went back to bed and slept like a baby with no worries.  I went to Home Town Buffet for dinner and read a book. Now I'm back home ready to goof off online. For the next week, except one appointment, I have my own time.

Enjoying a simple Father's Day

Right now, I'm at my neighbors enjoying a quiet Father's Day while we watch & listen to "This is It"  Michael Jackson's last rehersals before he died.  I keep on watching him sing and dance and think ...and within days he's gone from the world.  It reminds me how fragile life is and how we should enjoy each moment even when some moments are bad.  I couldn't afford to get my husband this hammock I posted earlier today, but we were able to enjoy a good day with friends.  The dad made us all breakfast, Baker Mills  Kodiak Cakes (pancakes), from Trader Joes (my favorite grocery store).  The pancakes were made with 100% whole grains.  At first I was leary of it being icky (but keeping it too myself) but with cut bananas and strawberries with real maple syrup it was scrumptious.  I felt grateful for someone else making breakfast.  Anytime someone else cooks I'm grateful.  Plus, it gives me new ideas of what to cook myself.  In my house my husband is the one to make waffles and pancakes and I'm grateful every time he does.  Our daughters said they wanted frozen waffles and we all looked at them thinking and saying they were nuts.  Our friend told his daughter, this time you are eating what I want you to eat.  I never questioned anything my mom served me but kids today are picky or it that we let them be picky.

How ever we spend the day it's a good day to celebrate.

Happy Father's Day to our Dads, Grandfathers, Husband, Sons, Son-in Laws and friends.
