What a Weekend

Last night I went to my 30th High School Reunion.  I'm going to wait till I have photographs to talk more about the reunion.  I'll just say that I had a great time and I'm glad I went.  One friend was happy that we all had our teeth and another shared the best part of being a bit plump is that we have natural botox.  I laughed so hard both time.

Our Mascot

My daugther was at her cousin's for a few days and then came home last night.  Today she left with her dad, her best friend and her bff's dad for a 9 day trip.  First they are going to Lake Tahoe, CA and camp for 5 days.  Then they are going north of San Francisco to visit her bff's aunt.  They will go into San Francisco and see everything.  I wanted to take Natalie on her first trip to San Francisco, but I'm glad that she has the opportunity to go this time.  I was 23 before I went there the first time.  San Francisco is at least 6 hours from Los Angeles, so it's a long long drive.  My daughter and I will miss each other terribly but it's important for her to have special time with her dad.  Their relationship has been strained this past year and I'm hoping this trip helps them heal.

After they left, I went back to sleep.  I didn't wake up again till 4pm.  I got to bed at 1:30am last night, which is early for me.  I took my meds and said good bye to Natalie and her Dad this morning.  Then I went back to bed and slept like a baby with no worries.  I went to Home Town Buffet for dinner and read a book. Now I'm back home ready to goof off online. For the next week, except one appointment, I have my own time.

Enjoying a simple Father's Day

Right now, I'm at my neighbors enjoying a quiet Father's Day while we watch & listen to "This is It"  Michael Jackson's last rehersals before he died.  I keep on watching him sing and dance and think ...and within days he's gone from the world.  It reminds me how fragile life is and how we should enjoy each moment even when some moments are bad.  I couldn't afford to get my husband this hammock I posted earlier today, but we were able to enjoy a good day with friends.  The dad made us all breakfast, Baker Mills  Kodiak Cakes (pancakes), from Trader Joes (my favorite grocery store).  The pancakes were made with 100% whole grains.  At first I was leary of it being icky (but keeping it too myself) but with cut bananas and strawberries with real maple syrup it was scrumptious.  I felt grateful for someone else making breakfast.  Anytime someone else cooks I'm grateful.  Plus, it gives me new ideas of what to cook myself.  In my house my husband is the one to make waffles and pancakes and I'm grateful every time he does.  Our daughters said they wanted frozen waffles and we all looked at them thinking and saying they were nuts.  Our friend told his daughter, this time you are eating what I want you to eat.  I never questioned anything my mom served me but kids today are picky or it that we let them be picky.

How ever we spend the day it's a good day to celebrate.

Happy Father's Day to our Dads, Grandfathers, Husband, Sons, Son-in Laws and friends.
