Sharing Barbie Links from Blogs and the News

http://www.thecuriels.blogspot.com/

I have Google Alerts for Blogs and News about Barbies, Fibromyalgia and Tweens (since my daughter is almost 13).  It's interesting the type of links I'm sent.  Anyways, I thought I'd share some of the links with my readers.

Here are the links:

  • This is a review of the new Barbie Movie Barbie a Fashion Fairy Tale:

It is intersting the things children can learn from playing.  1) Stimulating Creativity  2) Developing Diplomacy 3) Character Balance (to offset his testosterone ). 4) Concentration and Discipline and more.

Wow!!  Didn"t know that Barbies were so educational.  Actually I did!!  As a teacher I know that children learn while playing.  I would have my students play educational games, even blocks during free time.  I used the blocks in 2nd grade to foster getting along skills.  When they started throwing them I gave them a warning and ended up taking them away.  I was dealing with a very troubled group of kids in South Central Los Angeles.  When I started letting my students go to listening centers, do math games, even draw and use stencils; their bad behavior was reduced enormously.  So remember when a child is playing they are actually learning life skills.

  • Judy Ragalie paints realistic retro barbies.

These  paintings are beautiful and I wouldn't mind owning one myself.  She is inspired by the dolls from 1959 to 1970.  See more at this link:

During this event people from all over show their dolls that been altered.  Some of the images are a bit wild but most of them are amazing works of art.  Recently I had a customer who wanted to buy one of my barbies.  Since the dolls were going to Germany and he only wanted the heads, to save money on shipping and handling.  I had to remove them before shipping them.  I had Natalie help me because I was worried I'd ruin them.  Kids are experts at these things.  So 4 heads plus the outfits and shoes were put in an envelope and mailed off.  This person was planning on doing an altered Barbie.  I asked him to send me a photo but he never did.

Here are some photos from the expo:

Do you know of some interesting news about Barbies?

When I originally commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox
and now each time a comment is added I get three emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
Cheers!
