Road Trip 2013- First Stop Las Vegas

Back in October, when I went to Las Vegas for our Anniversary, Kurt and I went to a timeshare thing and got the chance to check out one of their properties for 6 nights in Sedona, Arizona.  I decided that we should take a road trip going there.  We left our house on Tuesday, July 9 and returned before midnight on July 19, 2013.   We drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas the first day and stayed in Las Vegas 2 nights.  We had our daughter Natalie, age 15 and her boyfriend Ben, almost 17.  He turned 17 when we were in Sedona(I'll talk about that in a future post).

I had always wanted to stay at the Flamingo Hotel, so I got my wish.

The picture below shows the view from our room .  Among the trees, near the far building, was the Flamingo Garden.  The Flamingo Gardens and Pools were amazing.  I especially loved the grotto behind the waterfalls.  Even though the water was fast I loved having it hit my head.  I know it sounds weird, but it helped my headaches.

We did a lot of driving around and trying to find cheaper places to eat off the strip.  We had an amazing Oriental Buffet at a restaurant on Flamingo Road, going North and a late lunch at the Seven  casino.  While we were in L.V.  we visited the Pawn shop where "Pawn Stars" is filmed.  The clown picture went for over 7 grand and I didn't catch the price for the amazing grand piano.

On Thursday, after we checked out, we went to the Atomic Museum and saw a robot similar to the one on the 60's show "Lost in Space".   Then we drove over the bridge near Hoover Dam and took Hwy 93 to Kingman.  From Kingman we drove HWY 40 which is parallel, in parts, to Route 66.
